I Believe in Careful Design, Sentiment, and Intention.

My first experience sewing took place when I was quite young, learning to sew buttons on by hand from my mother and grandmother. However, I spent my formative years putting time towards fine arts and academics, and even planned on pursuing a career in the morgue. It wasn’t until I took a leap to pursue art school in the city that I picked up machine sewing and designing, applying techniques honed from my passions of drawing, narrative, and the human body to this new art and service.

As a designer, I find the relationship between fragility and mortality captivating. I experiment with asymmetrical balances of femininity and masculinity through fabrication and proportion, playing with these notions throughout many of my designs by combining traditional garments with unexpected cuts and volumes, I can bring to life sheer, delicate drapings paired with dense, armor like outer wear. My work is cultivated from the beauty I find in all things living and dead, a fragility and gentleness found in the pain of holding on and letting go. I’m devoted to learning about accessible design for all kinds of bodies as I want to have the knowledge and skill to design for everyone who wishes to wear my work. I firmly believe I am only as good a designer as I make people feel wearing my clothes.

I’m deeply inspired by the Victorian era, botany, birds, poetry, and the human experience. Ultimately, fashion connects me to life. I’m devoted to learning about accessible design for all kinds of bodies as I want to have the knowledge and skill to design for everyone who wishes to wear my work. As of late, I’ve been quite drawn to rougher and textured chiffons, twill cottons, and lightweight, sheer knits.
